BIOGRAPHY
Karen Casey was born and raised in Moncton, New Brunswick Canada.
She picked up her first camera in 2001, since then she knew that her path in life would be to
become a professional photographer. In 2006, she received her Diploma of Fine Craft with a
major in Photography from the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design. Shortly after, Karen
became a freelance photographer and opened her own photography studio on Queen Street
in the heart of Fredericton’s downtown for a number of years.
After numerous year of owning her own studio, she wanting to spread her wings and travel,
she decided to close the doors and travel outside the country for an extended period of time.
Karen traveled for months at a time and experienced several countries in backpacking with
her camera. This whole process allowed Karen to discover the world as well as herself as a
photographer.
One of her true passions is being on the road capturing the people of her adventures and
sharing them with her viewers.
In 2012, Karen has returned to her hometown of Moncton to open her studio in her home.
She still finds herself in complete serenity behind her camera. Part of being an artist is
pushing and breaking all boundaries of the medium we are exploring. This is what keeps her
motivated to keep learning and exploring photography on a daily basis.
Karen has a real eye for artistic design of the body. She has taken hundreds of portraits.
Working with a variety of people. She has proven her eye at making attractive portraits.
Karen always has many projects and participates in many photography committees such as
Camera’s for healing, The Photo Moncton International Conference and many of her ongoing
projects.
BIOGRAPHIE
Karen Casey est née et a grandit à Moncton, au Nouveau-Brunswick, Canada. Elle prit en main son
premier appareil photo en 2001 et depuis, elle sut que son but serait de devenir photographe
professionnel. En 2006, elle a obtenu son Diplôme des Beaux-arts avec matière principale en
photographie du New Brunswick College of Craft & Design. Karen est alors devenue photographe
pigiste et a ouvert son propre studio sur la rue Queen au coeur du centre-ville de Fredericton pour
plusieurs années.
Voulant tenter des nouvelles expériences, elle a fermé les portes de son studio et a entrepris
plusieurs voyages à l’extérieur du pays. Avec sac à dos et appareil photo, elle a voyagé dans
plusieurs pays. Ces expériences lui ont permis de découvrir le monde et elle-même en tant que
photographe. L’une de ses grandes passions est de saisir un moment dans la vie des personnes sur
son chemin lors de ses aventures et de les partager avec son auditoire.
En 2012, Karen est revenue à Moncton et a ouvert son studio chez elle. Elle continue à être en
complète harmonie avec son appareil. Être artiste signifie de franchir et de surpasser les limites du
medium qu’est la photographie. C’est ce qui la motive de continuer à se développer et à explorer
la photographie quotidiennement.
Karen excelle dans la perception artistique du corps humain. Elle a photographié un grand
nombre de personnes et a pris des centaines de portraits qu’elle a su rendre attrayants.
Karen s’implique dans un grand nombre de projets et est membre de plusieurs comités axés sur la
photographie tels Caméras pour guérir et la Conférence internationale sur la photographie entre
autres.
